Patchday WoW Client 1.60 PDF Print E-mail

ep, it's patch day again. Time to download the new 1.60 wow patch. As mentioned before, the bulk of this patch is going to be the Blackwing Lair instance and the new Darkmoon Faire world event. While I haven't been able to confirm 100% yet, I think you can enter Blackwing Lair without a key, just like being attuned to Molten Core. What I do know for sure is that to get attuned to Blackwing Lair is that you gotta kill the Quarter Master and touch the orb he guards. You know that room down the hall way turning left instead of going to Upper Blackrock Spire? Well, that's it. Then I think after that you just have to kill Drakkisath and touch the orb behind him (this was implimented on the 1.5 patch but serves no purpose until now). I think that's about it. I'll revise this posting to make any corrections though. Also, the Blackmoon Faire alternates between Elwynn Forest and Mulgore every month. Since the test server was only up a short time I dont know where exactly in Elwynn the Blackmoon Faire will setup camp, but I bet it will be south west of Stormwind like it was south west of Thunderbluff. The Blackmoon Faire mostly consists of repeatable collection quests. Turn in items created by various tradeskills in exchange for reputation and tickets. If you get enough tickets (1200 to be exact) you can get an epic necklace. There's one for casters and melee. Also, there are various cards that drop from mobs I believe in Burning Steppes and probably other high level zones. Collect all the cards from one set and turn them in for epic items. This is starting to sound like Pokemon now isn't it? Gotta Catchem All (please don't sue). Okay, so just login to wow and it should automatically begin downloading the new client patch. It's just a tad over 20MB so you shouldn't be waiting too long to get in and start playing again.

Oh yeah, the Darkmoon Faire takes about a week to setup so you'll only see wagons and NPC's chitchatting away until it's up.

In addition, Battlemasters will be available in the major cities which will allow you to join Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulth PvP queues without flying there first. This and many more updates including class balances and raid instance tweaks are in the World of Warcraft Client Patch 1.6.0 notes. Read more for the patch notes.

gathering of the exotic from around the world and beyond, Silas Darkmoon has brought together the Darkmoon Faire as a celebration of the wondrous and mysterious found in Azeroth. While the Faire spends most of their time in parts unknown, they do stop from time to time in Mulgore and Elwynn forest. When the faire is on its way, barkers will stop by Orgrimmar and Ironforge to announce its arrival.

While it is uncertain if this will be an annual event, it certainly sounds cool. Check out some of the features. I'll bold the cool ones.

  • Many exotic vendors travel with Silas Darkmoon, offering adventurers hard-to-find items from the far corners of Azeroth.
  • Players can earn tickets by gathering trade goods for Darkmoon Faire's vendors, which can then be turned in for items and special equipment.
  • Strange sets of cards have been broken up and scattered across Azeroth. Players who are lucky enough to collect a complete set of these cards can turn them in at the faire to receive epic items.

Hmm, epic items. Me likey :P As soon as I find out how to obtain these cards, I'm keeping the secret to myself so I can get phat lewtz I'll make a post about it. Click here for the official under development page.

rdinn has posted the first World of Warcraft Battle Plan by Shane Dabiri, Lead Producer of World of Warcraft in the official forums. This is a review of the first seven months of the game and is also a roadmap of things to come.

Ordinn Writes:
It has been over six months since World of Warcraft launched in North America, and we have seen much growth during that time. Just prior to launching in China last week, World of Warcraft had achieved a subscriber base of more than 2 million players worldwide. Thousands of new players around the world are joining the adventures in Azeroth each day, and the early signs from China are showing that World of Warcraft is proving to be very popular with...
