After much anticipation, we've finally ordered a dedicated server for the site. So, during the next couple of days you may experience problems while accessing this site. The database information will still work so until I have the new dbase setup on the server, you should still be able to make posts and access all your personal files. Thanks for your patience.

New Battlegrounds Instance - Arathi Basin
Written by Robbie
Wednesday, 10 August 2005
yonix posted a preview about the new Battlegrounds instance (Arathi Basin) which is currently in development. "The war between Horde and Alliance has spilled onto a new arena. As resources are spent waging battle, both sides must find new territories to plunder in order to feed their ongoing war effort. The League of Arathor and the Forsaken Defilers have both been tasked with conquering the resource-rich Arathi Basin...and you have been drafted to help. Who ever takes the Basin will gain untold riches for their side and cripple the enemy. Find out how to win this all-new Battleground and discover what honors and rewards await those who find victory in Arathi Basin.".

Arathi Basin is a 15v15 PvP Instance where both sides compete to control 5 resource points (Farm, Smithy, Lumber Mill, Gold Mine, and Stables). Each cotnrolled resource generates resources for the conrtolling team. The More resource noes your team controls, the faster you generate resources for your team. The first team to gain 2,000 resources wins. Resources accumulated in Arathi Basin translate directly into bonus honor for players. Even if you do not win the Battleground, you will still receive honor... unless of course you failed to control even one resource node. You will also improve your reputation with the Defilers or League of Arathor when you play, which will unlock many new and powerful rewards as in Warsong Gulch. The Arathi Basin instances are also grouped by levels just like Warsong Gulch. The minimum level to join is 21-30, 31-40, etc.

urrently under development for World of Warcrafts next patch is the new Dungeon Zul' Gurub. Zul' Gurub is a 20-man raid instance located in the northeastern portion of Stranglethorn Vale.

Here are some of the hot new features of zul' Gurub:
  • Over 120 new Epic and Superior items, including a new five-piece set for each class!
  • Players can build up their reputation with the new Zandalar Tribe faction in order to gain a variety of rewards! (come on +crit spell enchant)
  • Tons of Zul'Gurub quests available at the new base in Yojamba Isle!
  • Highly scripted boss encounters unlike any you've experienced before!
  • Click here for the official Underdevelopment page for Zul' Gurub.

Also coming soon will be the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, hosted by the Goblins in Booty Bay. During set periods of times, players will be able to fish up rare fish in exchange for gold prizes and most likely faction. No specific prize details have been given though.

And last, but not least, a significant change for the Hunter class. They are getting their talents totally revamped. Checkout the hunter page for more details by clicking here.

Now, in addition to the new world content, Blizzard has opened up a select few more servers for world transfers. So, if you're tired of all the lag and queues of your current server, feel free to destroy the economy and decimate the population by transferring to a new server and creating a large queues and lag over there. Click here to transfer your characters.

    Patchday WoW Client 1.60
    Written by Robbie
    Tuesday, 12 July 2005
ep, it's patch day again. Time to download the new 1.60 wow patch. As mentioned before, the bulk of this patch is going to be the Blackwing Lair instance and the new Darkmoon Faire world event. While I haven't been able to confirm 100% yet, I think you can enter Blackwing Lair without a key, just like being attuned to Molten Core. What I do know for sure is that to get attuned to Blackwing Lair is that you gotta kill the Quarter Master and touch the orb he guards. You know that room down the hall way turning left instead of going to Upper Blackrock Spire? Well, that's it. Then I think after that you just have to kill Drakkisath and touch the orb behind him (this was implimented on the 1.5 patch but serves no purpose until now). I think that's about it. I'll revise this posting to make any corrections though. Also, the Blackmoon Faire alternates between Elwynn Forest and Mulgore every month. Since the test server was only up a short time I dont know where exactly in Elwynn the Blackmoon Faire will setup camp, but I bet it will be south west of Stormwind like it was south west of Thunderbluff. The Blackmoon Faire mostly consists of repeatable collection quests. Turn in items created by various tradeskills in exchange for reputation and tickets. If you get enough tickets (1200 to be exact) you can get an epic necklace. There's one for casters and melee. Also, there are various cards that drop from mobs I believe in Burning Steppes and probably other high level zones. Collect all the cards from one set and turn them in for epic items. This is starting to sound like Pokemon now isn't it? Gotta Catchem All (please don't sue). Okay, so just login to wow and it should automatically begin downloading the new client patch. It's just a tad over 20MB so you shouldn't be waiting too long to get in and start playing again.

Oh yeah, the Darkmoon Faire takes about a week to setup so you'll only see wagons and NPC's chitchatting away until it's up.
